Priority research areas

South Ural State Medical University (SUSMU) is renowned for its leading scientific schools in fundamental and clinical medicine.

• Therapeutic School – developed under the leadership of Professor D. A. Glubokov, who made significant contributions to the study of internal diseases.

• Surgical School – associated with the work of Professor Yu. I. Malyshev, who developed new methods of surgical interventions and surgical practice.

• Biochemistry/Physiology School – founded by Professors L. Ya. Ebert, R. I. Lifshitz, and Yu. M. Zakharov, whose work shaped the development of fundamental biochemical and immunological fields.

• Pediatric School – founded by Professor N. S. Tyurina, who established standards for the training of pediatricians and the study of childhood pathologies.

• The Ural School of Oncology, Radiation Diagnostics and Therapy is based at the university’s specialized department (headed by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.V. Vazhenin) and is recognized at the all-Russian level for its personnel training and clinical research.
